Usain Bolt Joins Mamelodi Sundowns For A Training Session

Mamelodi Sundowns had a special guest in their training session on Monday morning at the club’s base in Chloorkop, sprint legend Usain Bolt.

The Jamaican trained with the Brazilians and imparted his knowledge on how to gain maximum speed with the club’s strikers. Bolt was at home with the 2016 African champions. The two sporting institutions, Bolt and Sundowns, share a sponsor in Puma and both have excelled in their respective codes – Bolt has eight Olympics gold medals and the Brazilians are chasing their eighth league title in the Premier Soccer League-era.

“Sundowns were pretty good,” Bolt said. “It was a good experience. I don’t know how quick I am with the ball but if I kick and run, I can get there. It was a good game. It was a fun day and they were welcoming. It’s just that the coach (Pitso Mosimane) told me that when I go back to Jamaica I need some training. I am very unfit, very, very unfit. I am going to try and get fit for the trials with Borrusia Dortmund (in March). Training with Sundowns showed me that I am unfit for that. Getting in shape for me is easy. I told the coach that when I get to Jamaica I will call my coach Glen Mills and tell him that I need a month of training before I go on these trials.”

Percy Tau supplied Bolt with the assist that led to the Jamaican scoring his only goal in the training session.

“Thank you for coming to Sundowns,” Tau said to Bolt. “We really appreciate Puma. It was an honour to train with you. I think that you did well, you even scored. Thank you for coming. We enjoyed our moment with you.”

For brand awareness it was very good, but you could have done more and take advantage of Bolt’s popularity and leverage the brand sundowns even more.

Dear admin, why are you always a day late for every announcement?

Breaking news! ANDILE JALI is a free agent, all he wants is 2 wear Jersey no:15 for whoever he signs with plus a good salary ofcoz. Pitso! #kby4life

We must start winning again soon, we have 2 break this hoodoo team spell on Friday bcoz we just can’t lose to 1 team so many times no-ways! Our players must apply themselves through out the entire game (mentally n physically) period! Commitment n the desire to win must be applied intensely.

Pitso is no longer unleashing arrogant and attacking team. He seems to be afraid of many teams in the PSL these days, he even tries parking the bus. The confidence is not like previous years when we were hammering teams. Now we just wish and hope that we will win

I was very sad to learnt that new Pirates player Xola Mlambo was once at our development side but nobody never saw how good he was, eintlik they are many players we let go including Mako at Chippa,Buhle Mkhwanazi and now its Shozi the list is endless. My question is why are we keep on having development sides whereas we don’t promote and have our own players and I doubt whether we will see Mukumela on first team or not,Kby forever.

Pitso-mosimane is a very good coach but his fear is rubbing off the players, now that he wanna add (tebogo moloi) 2 the technical team makes me wonder that is he really a coach that is competent ‘ technically, strategically, psycologically n tactically’ or is it his assistants who r really making things 2 happen n with the knowledge of reading games n opponents game-plan? Bcoz eva since (rhulani-mokoena) left the mighty sundowns our technical-team have deteriorated in confidence n self-believe n we r losing n drawing more games that we should have easily won n that’s unlike the mighty sundowns!

Don’t get me wrong members I strongly believe in our coach (pitso-mosimane n his technical-team) but eva since (rhulani-mokoena) left we r not the same ruthless-machine we used 2b 4 a team that has so many ‘star-players’ n quality at our disposal period. Sundowns is no-longer an attacking team like we used 2b n its a concern 4 a team that is assembled 4 attacking football bcoz nowa-days we play not 2 Lose rather than playing 2 win n its sad with all the material we have at sundowns! It’s amazing how a small team like (polokwane-city) gets 2 beat the mighty sundowns twice ‘home n away’ in 1-season, even lose 2 (amazulu) 4 GOD’S sake! I mean I know we r no:1 on the log currently n I know n remember where (pitso-mosimane) received sundowns was no:15 on the log on the brink of relegation n he managed 2 salvage no:9 position end of season 5-years back but it seems like we r going back 2 that seasons where we the supporters were not sure weda we will win, draw or lose with no strong confidence of the positive outcome n no hope but only the strong love n dedication 4 sundowns to do well. Guys we used 2b so confident that nobody would think the mighty sundowns was or would be beatable what so ever but nowadays even (polokwane-city,amazulu,cape town city n other small teams) can get a positive result out of us n its so heartbreaking to say the least period!

To all the mighty sundowns (technical team, management, players n everybody associated with this huge brand) we still believe in u n we know that things will change 4 the better n we will get our train back on track n start winning games like we should be n gunning 4 bigger championships like the (league n caf champions league) n all we have 2 do is believe n trust in our team in good or bad times n the rest shall sort itself out period, in the mighty sundowns I believe n trust all the way! #kby4life

Since we lost 2 (cape town city) in the first round, all our players must know what to expect from them. Their strong points, weak points, power play, technical n tactical awareness, playmakers n runners bcoz this time we definitely can’t lose or draw with them we have 2 win this game n we have 2 want it more than them bcoz we have more to lose than them so all our players must be fully (committed n focused) n we have 2 apply ourselves 200% n push ourselves way over board even if it means players getting injured or suspended let it be the case if shaff comes to push, it takes gutts, dedication,commitment,focus,decipline,clinicality,team-work,concerntration,selflessness,competency,mental n physical streangth n the never say die attitude to win the league! complacency n too-casual attitude is our worst enemy as most of our players r always 2-casual n over-relaxed in the mist of crucial games while (pitso-mosimane) would shout ‘easy’ while our players r on fire n it takes the life out of them bcoz they would b feeling the game n wanting 2 play but our coach will shout ‘easy-easy’ what 4 bcoz our players would be on power play n feeling the high playing spirit?

Our players must want 2 win at all costs n they must want n have the desire to win n work harder than the opponent at all times n they must be willing 2 give their all n have that die in the field of play attitude. Our players loves (ball-watching n giving the opponent) time n space to play n it all stops now bcoz we must close them down as early as possible n not allow them time 2 play, think or breathe witch means our players must be ready to work n run the whole 90-minutes without ceasing period. Time 4 games is over n its time 4 serious work bcoz we r running the last final 10-games n we must win them all against all odds, it’s time for final stretch running n we come 2 far 2 lose it now so let all the season’s hard work be complemented by putting the cherry on top of the cake so please push your selves hard masandawana n let’s runaway with the league, now it’s time 2 wrap it up n close shop. We must win on Friday against (city) #kby4life

ppl tend to forget dat Pitso dd not only start to achieve big as a coach when he started working with Rulani….He started at supersport,n in 2014 we won da league without Rulani,so let’s not let our hatred rule our judgement

  9. I would like to wish the yellow nation luck on our crucial game tonight, players,Technical staff and Supporters,I wish that the starting team should be able to convert created chances, close the back door and control the midfield.let us run at them with Percy,Mngoma,Mshishi,Brockie,Khama,Laffor etc

Tjoo I never saw Downs dominated like that since I supported them way back in 1986 and having one corner in the entire game out of eleven for CTC,surely that team will take the league one day they are very dangerous eintlik siphume ngembobo yenalithi anyway thanx boys for three points, Kby forever.

Sundowns FC will win its eighth title this season, and I concur with coach Pitso that we should go back and compete in Africa. The focus should be on CAF cup. Good Luck guys!
